Dr. Ryan Mattie is an Interventional Spine and Pain Management specialist offering the most advanced treatments to address a broad spectrum of disorders stemming from acute, chronic, or cancer-related pain. From image-guided injections and spinal stabilization devices, to the latest technologies in neuromodulation, Dr. Mattie uses minimally invasive procedures and surgeries to help alleviate pain, restore functional ability, and improve quality of life.
Dr. Mattie graduated with honors from the University of Virginia, and then earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine where he received the Physician Commendation for Exceptional Professionalism and Service. He completed his internship at the University of California, Irvine and then began his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the top-ranked Stanford University School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. After residency, he continued his training with a fellowship in advanced Interventional Pain Management at the prestigious University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.
Dr. Mattie is board certified in both Pain Management and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He has written several book chapters and published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles in renowned pain, spine, orthopedic, and sports medicine journals. He is a leading member in multiple spine and pain medical societies, and serves as Vice-chair of the Standards Division for the Spine Intervention Society and Co-chair of the Research Committee for the Pacific Spine and Pain Society. Dr. Mattie is also the Associate Editor for the Minimally Invasive Surgery section of the Interventional Pain Medicine journal.
