Dr. Ali Afshar is an expert in robotic surgery with advanced training in complex urologic cancer surgery as well as in minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Afshar has performed over one thousand robotic procedures and specializes in laparoscopic and robotic-assisted radical
prostatectomy, radical nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, nephroureterectomy, cystectomy, pyeloplasty, and many more.
Dr. Afshar became interested in urology while conducting oncology research at Vanderbilt University Department of Urologic Surgery. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine before completing his urology residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He continued his training with a fellowship in Advanced Endourology and Robotic Surgery at the world-renowned University of Southern California’s Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dr. Afshar is also an attending urologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he maintains clinical privileges and is involved with their urology residency teaching program.
